Bill Description

SB136 establishes that a patient’s consent to physician-assisted suicide cannot be used as a legal defense for a charge of homicide against the physician involved. It defines physician-assisted suicide as prescribing a lethal dose of medication for self-administration to end a patient’s life, explicitly excluding the withholding or withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment under existing laws.
