The state has a duty to protect the privacy, safety and dignity of all people when they’re using the locker room in a public place like a school. It’s just common sense sense that high school girls shouldn’t be forced to shower next to boys.
In May 2016, the Obama administration directed all schools to let male students into the girls’ locker rooms if they identify as girls.
The Trump administration reversed that directive and said the issue of transgender locker rooms should be decided at the state level.
Now, Montana has responded with the Montana Locker Room Privacy Act. Currently working its way through the state Legislature, the bill will create a statewide vote
